Monday March 19 7:00 p.m. Guest speaker:  Donna Dolan, Registered Dietitian for Hy-Vee Stores.  Topic: "Nutrition on a GF Diet".  She will also talk about GF products carried by Hy-Vee.

Also, our annual Bread Baking Contest.  Everyone is invited to enter their winning recipes.  Categories:  Yeast Bread, Quick Bread, and Muffins.  Please include recipe with you entry.  Those bringing entries please come at 6:40 pm for registration and setup.

Sunday April 1 2:00 p.m. Waterloo/Cedar Falls Celiac Sprue Support Group.  Guest speaker: Ann Whelan, editor of the bi-monthly newsletter "Gluten-Free Living".  She will speak on "Suspicious Ingredients".  Location: Covenant Medical Center, 3421 W. 9th St., Waterloo, Iowa.  For directions contact Becky or Donna (see below).  A lunch will be shared after the meeting.  Registration is $10 per person.  Send your check to Anna Mary Cobie, 2112 Tilbury Road, Waterloo, IA 50701.  Deadline:  March 23.
Saturday April 21 9:30 a.m. Pancake Breakfast at Grandview Baptist Church, 4316 N. Ripley St., Davenport (corner of Northwest Blvd. and Ripley St.).  Pancakes and sausage, coffee and orange juice.  Anyone is welcome to bring breakfast breads, muffins, fruit, etc.  Donation of $1 per person is appreciated to cover cost of church rental fee.

Volunteers are needed for setup, food preparation and clean up.  Come at 8:00 am and bring an electric griddle and/or electric skillet if you have them.

Monday May 21 7:00 p.m. Topic:  "Share GF Traveling Strategies and Tips".  Regular meeting location (see below).

No meeting in June

Saturday July 28 Noon GF Picnic (potluck) at Crow Creek Park on Devils Glenn Road, Bettendorf, Iowa.  Please bring a GF main dish and a GF side dish, salad or dessert.  Also, please bring your own table service and beverage.  Anyone interested in softball, please bring your glove.

Annual Celiac Informational Meeting
Saturday, October 6
Montgomery Hall, Johnson County Fairgrounds, Iowa City, Iowa

Directions:  From the I-80/I-380 interchange near Iowa City, go south on highway 218, take the third exit (Airport - Riverside Drive) - it will head north, the fairgrounds is on the left.

Lodging:  There are two motels on Riverside Drive - Airline Motel (319-353-9643) and Alexis Inn (319-337-8665).  They are one block apart and about six blocks north of the fairgrounds.

8:00 - 10:15  Registration -  $15 (first adult), $5 (additional family members).  Children under 12 - free.  Please pre-register by September 29 - Call Betty Bast at 319-352-4740.
Food Fair, Exhibits, Bone Density Screening ($25 - pay then).
9:00 - 10:15 Demonstrations:  Chebe Bread Uses, Pizza Crusts, Pasta Varieties, Pie Crusts, GF Flours, Bread Machines, Grain Mills.
10:30 - 11:30 Guest speakers leading discussion:  Covering emotions, concerns, needs.  Parents of Celiac children meet downstairs, adult Celiacs meet upstairs.  Children's Program to take place in the Extension Office Building (nearby).
11:30 - 12:00  Meal preparation
12:00 - 1:00 Noon meal - Roast Beef, Mashed and Baked Potatoes, Gravy, Corn.  Also extra for the children: GF Hot Dogs, Potato Chips.
1:15 - 2:15 Speaker:  Dr. David Elliott, Director of the Celiac Clinic at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.  "Celiac Sprue in 2001 and Celiacs and Osteoporosis".
2:15 - 3:15 Bev Clearman, Registered Dietitian from the Celiac Clinic at the Univ. of Iowa, "What is new for the Celiac Diet?  Bone-healthy GF Foods."

Monday November 19 7:00 p.m. Dealing with family, host/hostess, parties and holiday foods
